Nova Coat Workshop (in-person and online options)
Are you a coat lover like me?
Have you made some garments but feel that coats are just a little bit too far out of your comfort zone?
Then this is the workshop for you... AND there is a child sized option!
Nova is a coat for all seasons, can be make in any stable heavy weight fabric like Denim, Worsted, boiled wool, tweed and can be lined with something zingy to take you design to the next level. Designed by Indie Designer Papercut Patterns, its modern and stylish with a nod to Japanese style and like wearing a big bear cut (while looking chic in the process)
This one day workshop will talk you through the processes involved in making your coat. Nova is the perfect intro to coat making as the style requires no fitting and has no fastenings, but is still weighty enough to teach you the techniques required included the magic of bagging out your lining. It comes in two lengths and has two sleeve length options too.
You can attend this workshop either in person, or online, and you can also purchase a gift option to give you a friend (and we can either email or post a gift voucher for you to give them!)
The face to face workshop is hosted in the wonderful surroundings of the newly refurbished Hall for Cornwall, the cultural hub of Cornwall in the heart of Truro with a fabulous cafe and bar.
The online workshop will be beamed from my full equipped Cornish garden studio, with opportunities to chat and sew as well as learn - a fun sociable sew with the added benefit of a gorgeous coat at the end of it!!
Depending on your skill level, You may not get these totally finished during the day - but you will be equipped with everything you need to know to be able to do so... and this prices also includes follow up support through a Facebook group for a couple of weeks if you get stuck once the class is over.
The face to face class size will be kept small in order to be able to ensure everyone has enough support on the day itself. Online has a few more spaces as there will be two of us manning the workshop and running the tech.
There will also be a closed Facebook group to help you prepare in advance and for post workshop support for up to 2 weeks.

Suitable for: Anyone who has completed my full Back to Basics online course (or higher level). You must be able to know your way around a sewing machine and have a basic understanding of grain.
You will need:
A copy of the pattern ($25NZD or £12.50 GBP - this needs to also be printed - instructions will follow upon booking)
Your fabric - purchased (around 3 m - instructions will follow upon booking)
1 m of medium weight iron on interfacing
Co-ordinating thread
Pins, scissors, machine, large table, iron, ironing board, tape measure.
